Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number submitted through a search tool is delivered directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Orange County Court Docket does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained as needed to prepare and preserve a response. Messages remain internal unless disclosure is required by a binding legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can automatically provide the servers with routine technical information, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure patterns such as popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine this usage information into reports. Browser controls can reject cookies, although disabling them may change how certain functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Orange County Court Docket does not host, sell, maintain, or compile personal case files or a database of county dockets. Its content points to the Orange County District Clerk, Orange County Clerk, lower courts, and re:SearchTX where an official record may be held. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or outside case files, and the service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies supply the search tools. Information entered there is governed by that provider's privacy terms rather than this policy. Because each partner controls its own retention and disclosure practices, review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to clerk pages, court portals, state case systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves Orange County Court Docket, the destination's policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed only to categories such as:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute protection, so unauthorized access or a security incident cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Notice that a minor supplied information will prompt a deletion review.
Your Data Rights
Texas or federal privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights over personal data. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 applies to public information in many government settings, but judicial case records use the separate access framework described in the Texas Judicial Branch policy. Depending on applicable law, a user may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date, so users should review it periodically.
